This Ria beach is located in the middle of the marsh, near a fishing and shellfish support group built by fishing tackle. The small bay is an anchorage for multiple vessels and is surrounded by lighting saline. In the west side, you can find the Ria Formosa Natural Park Headquarters and Interpretation Center, with his tide mill. The beach area is an excellent place to watch all the life around the saline and the marsh, since the typical halophyte (adapted to the place salinity) to the shy crabs, with emphasis to the wader birds that are in that site looking for food with their long bills: the black-winged stilt, the pied avocet, the black-tailed godwit, the little stint, the stork, the greater flamingo and different species of herons.
The sand area is narrow, but the Ria arm is large and provides peaceful baths. The local stillness is broken only by the regularly passage of the train, whose railway line is just behind the beach.
Access by tarmac road from EN 125, in the Village of Marim direction (about 3km from Olhão).
Informal dirt parking. It doesn’t have backup equipment nor beach surveillance.
