The Mother Church of Moncarapacho, dedicated to Our Lady of Grace, is one of the religious monuments to visit in the Olhão municipality. It has medieval origins but it was rebuilt in the Renaissance period. Noteworthy, is the monumental portal, built by André Pilarte, considered the most impressive piece of work of this typology in the Algarve. This portal has a great delicacy in the design of the sculptural elements, among which there's a turbulent Ecce Homo associated to the representation of the arrest of Christ, figured by the roman soldiers and scenes of the Flagellation, represented by figures with whips. The grotesques filling the pilasters and the upper frieze are of great artistic quality.
In its interior, the church, majestic and solemn, are standing out the paintings of the chapels of the Souls, of the Calvary and of St. Anthony and the sculptures as the ones of Our Lady of the Rosary and the of Lord of Patience.
